Who is Maggie?

Maggie was born and grew up in Miami Florida. She began work as a “mother’s helper” when she was 11 years old. By 13 she was babysitting for every family on the block. In addition, she volunteered in her church nursery every Sunday, and would even walk up and down the church aisles taking babies from mothers arms. She absolutely loved babies, and loved working with families.

Throughout college Maggie worked with kids in many different organizations. Maggie led an After-School Drama Club for kids in low-income neighborhoods. She also led a music class at a local Montessori school. Maggie also volunteered working with kids in a Domestic Violence Shelter, including mentoring a child one-on-one.

Every Summer for six years Maggie worked at an All Girls Summer Camp where she wore many hats. Besides being a Cabin Counselor throughout the years Maggie worked as a Drama and Music director, Program Director, Dining Hall manager and was awarded the “Donnie Award” for excellence in counseling. Nearly twenty years later Maggie is still in touch with many of the kids (now young adults) that she worked with at camp.

Maggie got her BA in Film and Theatre from Denison University in 2005. Upon graduation Maggie moved to Los Angeles.

Maggie spent the next 17 years continuing to work with kids in many different capacities. Besides working as a nanny and babysitter for many different families, she also worked as a substitute teacher, Youth Group Volunteer, Children’s Magician and Middle School Film Teacher. Throughout these seventeen years Maggie has participated in sleep training dozens of children, learning from some of the most sought after sleep trainers in Los Angeles.

In 2016 Maggie went back to school and in 2019 she received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy. During her time in graduate school and after, Maggie used her new skills of Expressive Arts Therapies to work with Alzheimers patients, Children in the Hospital as well as neuro-typical and Neuro-divergent kids in elementary, middle and high school. During this time Maggie continued to Nanny part time.

In 2023 Maggie passed her exam and is now fully licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Maggie also completed all the requirements to become a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist.

It was recently that Maggie discovered that she was able to use her life-long experience caring for children along with her new found mental health education to create the perfect balance when working with parents as they sleep train their children.
